ULSTER COUNTY COMMISSIONER OF FINANCE ANNOUNCES POSITIVE SALES TAX RECEIPTS

Ulster County Commissioner of Finance Paul J. Hewitt, announced today that with today’s sales tax receipt, the County is 9.46% or $1,975,091, ahead of the 2010 period of September, October and November.

For the year, the County’s sales tax is 4.37% or $3,459,394 ahead of the 2010 numbers.  Deputy Commissioner Burt Gulnick also stated that sales tax check to check comparisons are not as important as quarterly trends.

Commissioner Hewitt remains cautious as December’s receipts include the holiday shopping season and these could negatively impact the County’s final sales tax numbers.
