The New York State Police report a 2 car fatal accident on State Route 17A in Goshen, NY.
On Friday evening, September 14, 2012 at approximately 8:11 pm, Trooper Scott Baumam, 33, assigned to State Police Monroe was traveling southbound on State Route 17A in a marked State Police patrol unit. Robert Palladino, 70, of New Hampton, NY was traveling northbound on State Route 17A in a 2012 Kia. As Mr. Palladino reached the intersection of Houston Road, he turned left directly into the path of Trooper Bauman. Both vehicles subsequently collided causing Palladino’s Kia to travel off the roadway and come to rest on the south shoulder of State Route 17A.
Trooper Bauman was transported from the accident scene to Orange Regional Medical Center and treated for a fractured ankle. Palladino was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center and treated for head trauma.
The front seat passenger in the Kia, Josephine Palladino, 71, of New Hampton, NY was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
Preliminary investigation reveals the cause of the accident to be failure to yield right of way on the part of Palladino.
The investigation is continuing.
