City of Newburgh Police Find Over 2 Pounds of Pot During Traffic StopDec 22nd, 2013 | By HV Insider | Category: Police Briefs
On December 19 at 12:24am City of Newburgh Police Officer Kevin Lahar was on routine patrol when he observed a 2012 Ford Fusion fail to stop at a red light located at the intersection of Robinson Ave and Gidney Ave. The vehicle then proceeded southbound on Robinson Ave traveling 45mph in a 30mph zone.
The vehicle had two occupants and was stopped in the area of 45 Robinson Ave. Officers detected a strong odor of marihuana coming from the vehicle. The driver identified as 28 year old Damel Harrison on New Windsor was found to possess 1.7 grams of marihuana and 9 ½ illegal Percocet pills on his person. The passenger identified as 25 year old Cesar Rostran of the City of Newburgh was found to be in possession of 13.5 grams of marihuana on his person.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle officers located an additional 2.13 pounds of marihuana in the trunk.
Both subjects were charged with felony marihuana possession.
Harrison was additionally charged with misdemeanor drug possession for the pills
Rostran was additionally charged with resisting arrest as he became combative during the arrest.
