City of Newburgh 2014 Gun Buy Back Program Kicks Off June 14

City, county and state officials announced the kickoff of the 2014 Gun Buyback Program, which will be held at the Cathedral at the House of Refuge, 131 Broadway in the City of Newburgh on Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. The program, which will reward participants with gift certificates from ShopRite and Price Chopper,  will run through June 30; after June 14, all guns can be returned to the City of Newburgh Police Department, 55 Broadway.

Orange County  District Attorney David Hoovler,  Assemblyman Frank Skartados, the Greater Newburgh Partnership, ShopRite, and the City of Newburgh Police Department are major sponsors of the event.

The photo shows Councilwoman Karen Mejia, Councilwoman Cindy Holmes, who spearheaded this year’s gun buyback, Mayor Judy Kennedy, County Executive Steve Neuhaus, District Attorney David Hoovler, Sheriff Carl DuBois, Police Chief Michael Ferrara, and County Legislator Jim Kulisek.
