The children’s travelogue Jackson & Auggie: Adventure in the Hudson Valley: A “Tail” by Two Sisters is set in the beautiful Hudson Valley region of New York. The story and brilliant illustrations will delight young readers, while providing a lasting impression of this very beautiful geographical area.
One day a curious Siamese cat and a mischievous Boxer puppy wander too far from home. The “Tail” continues as Jackson and Auggie set out on an adventure, and along the way, they learn all about the historic Hudson Valley. Eventually, the two begin to miss their homes, so they return, excited about everything they saw.
Jackson and Auggie: Adventure in the Hudson Valley features illustrations rendered in various artistic styles. Children will find intriguing information about the different artists, art movements and styles used listed in the back of the book. Both the story and pictures will delight young readers and provide a fantastic impression of a wonderful geographical area.
Renée Pearce and Kaylin Ruffino are sisters who grew up in Monroe, New York. Renée is the author and currently resides in Highland Mills, N.Y. The illustrator, Kaylin, lives in Pine Bush, N.Y. Renée is a middle school teacher for gifted and talented students, and Kaylin teaches middle school art.
The two sisters published the book to be both entertaining and a teaching tool. They are inspired by their parents and families, and the Hudson Valley area where they live. For more info visit their website:
The sisters will be holding a book signing this weekend April 28 at Jays Deli in Highland Mills from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Stop out and support your local artists. if you can’t make this weekend’s signing they will also be appearing at the Flannery Adopt-a-thon/ Bowl-o-thon at GW’s in Chester on May 19th at 6:00pm
