The New York State Police at Highland are investigating a hit and run accident that occurred on Western Avenue in the Town of Marlborough.
On June 16, 2013 at approximately 9:17 p.m., a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling the wrong direction, east bound on a west bound one-way street, when it collided with a 2006 Honda Civic operated by Stephanie Mitchell, 27 years of age, of Marlborough. The Chevrolet continued east and struck three parked cars on Western Avenue before turning onto Route 9W, where it came to rest after striking a fourth parked car. Following the accident, the operator of the Chevrolet abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
Mitchell was transported by Mobile Life to St Francis Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
Investigation has identified the operator of the Chevrolet as Juan Flores-Fernandez, 39 years of age, of Brick, N.J.. Charges are pending.
State Police were assisted by the Marlborough Police Department, Marlborough Fire Department and Mobile Life Support.
