On March 10, 2013 at approximately 8 am the Chatham Fire Department along with Ghent FD, Valatie FD and Red Rock FD were dispatched to a reported house fire at 18 Jones Ave., Village of Chatham. The fire was called in by a neighbor advising the front of the house was on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by neighbors and first responders.
The Chatham FD and Columbia County Fire Coordinator’s Office requested the assistance of the New York State Police at the scene of the fire due to the suspicious nature of the fire.
New York State Police Troopers from Livingston and the Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene.
The subsequent investigation has resulted in the arrest of Willy Timperio, 30 of Catskill NY for Arson 2nd, a Class B Felony.
The defendant was arraigned in the Town of Livingston Court in front of the Honorable Robert Q. Moore. He was remanded to the Columbia County Jail with no bail.
