Deerpark Town Supervisor Karl A. Brabenec was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Regional Economic Community Action Program, Inc. (RECAP).  He will serve as one of the community representatives on the board.

“RECAP is a wonderful not-for-profit organization that truly makes a difference in the lives of many low income residents throughout Orange County,” said Supervisor Brabenec.  “It is an honor to be working with them to achieve their mission.”

The Regional Economic Community Action Program, established in 1965, is a not-for-profit organization committed to helping Orange County’s low-income residents.  The staff at RECAP assists these residents by utilizing and coordinating many different public and private resources to help to combat poverty.  The organization also helps them in attaining the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to become economically self-sufficient.  Some of the programs offered through RECAP are supportive housing, first time homebuyers program, drug and alcohol addiction treatment and recovery, employment training, nutrition assistance, food pantry, Head Start preschool program, energy conservation and weatherization program, and parole re-entry program.

Brabenec has served as Deerpark Town Supervisor since 2010.  He is also a candidate for New York State Assembly in the 98th district.  For more information about RECAP, visit their web site at
