ULSTER COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE HEIN ANNOUNCES: 5-WEEK JOB HELP PROGRAM TO BE OFFERED IN ELLENVILLE DURING MONTH OF OCTOBER
Job Help Program offered by the Ulster County Office of Employment and Training and Ellenville partners provides basics in resume preparation, job search, and interviewing techniques
A 5-session Job Help Program at the Ellenville Public Library will offer basic work readiness assistance to Ulster County’s job seekers. This program, provided by the Ulster County Office of Employment and Training with the ULSTER WORKS OneStop, Community Action of Ellenville, Ulster BOCES and the Ellenville Public Library is designed to provide the skills needed to successfully find work.
According to County Executive Mike Hein, “Assisting Ulster County residents with their employment-seeking efforts is a priority of my administration. This program is a great example of the many ways Ulster County government is partnering with other organizations to provide our citizens with more opportunities in the most cost-effective and resourceful manner.”
Nancy Schaef, Director of the Ulster County Office of Employment and Training concurred, “At the direction of County Executive Hein, the Ulster County Office of Employment and Training has been seeking opportunities to collaborate in new and innovative ways, in order to better deliver services to County residents. This partnership will help to provide Ellenville’s residents with techniques and the needed skill set to successfully search the job market.”
An Orientation Session on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 10 am to noon at the Ellenville Public Library Community Room will introduce participants to the employment counselors who have developed the curriculum. At that time, interested persons can sign up for the program, which will include:
Tuesday, October 9, 2012 10 am- Noon Resume Preparation – at Ulster BOCES Computer Classroom Center
Tuesday, October 16, 2012 10 am- Noon On-Line Job Search – at Ulster BOCES Computer Classroom Center
Tuesday, October 23, 2012 10 am- Noon Mock Interviewing and Dress For Success Dos and Don’ts – at Ellenville Public Library Community Room
Tuesday, October 30, 2012 10 am – Noon Final Session: Overcoming Barriers/Gathering Resources – at Ellenville Public Library Community Room

The Job Help Program will provide hands-on training to help long-term unemployed residents learn the techniques needed to get back to work. A “Certificate of Completion” will be granted to each participant who completes the 5-week sessions.
Ulster BOCES in Ellenville will provide a computer room behind the Ellenville Elementary School for two of the sessions, where basic computer training will be provided for the job seekers. Following the sessions, participants who have completed the program will be given follow-up services with trained employment counselors at the Ulster Works OneStop Center on Albany Avenue in Kingston.
