4 Graduate Ulster County Sheriff K9 Training School

Sheriff Paul J. Van Blarcum announced the completion of a 14-week K9 training school sponsored by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.  The school trained new K9 officers and their canine partners in police patrol, tracking, and article searches/scent detection.

The school was held at the Ulster County Community College’s Stone Ridge and Business Resource Center campuses. The head instructor was Ulster County Sheriff’s Deputy George Carlson.

A graduation ceremony was held at the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center on June 30, 2013, for the following officers and their canine partners:

Sergeant Michael Craft and his K9 partner Sara, Town of Saugerties Police Department
Officer Joseph Garvila and his canine partner Caster, Town of Ulster Police Department
Deputy Robert Vedder and his canine partner Dozer, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office
Officer Edward Meyers and his canine partner Barrage, University Police SUNY Albany
