Woodbury police are reporting a 13 year old boy from Fishkill plunged over 50 feet off a waterfall in Cornwall Thursday evening and was rushed to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
A 911 call was received prroxiametly 8:00 PM that a boy had fallen off a cliff. Five officers responded to the incident which occurred up a trail a mile off of Old Mineral Springs Road.
Police on scene determined the boy slipped on moss growing on top of the cliff and had tumbled down the cliff hitting rocks along the way. The boy was said to have been slipping in and out of consciousness and appeared to have several broken bones and a possible broken jaw.
Police withheld his name in order to conact family but would say that he was in the company of at least one adult at the time of the incident.
Cornwall police assisted Woodbury police bringing an ATV to the area in order to bring the boy out of the woods.
His status is unknown at this time.
Cornwall firefighters, Cornwall police, and Woodbury firefighters all responded to the scene.
