Officers from the City of Poughkeepsie along with local, state and federal authorities came down on a heroin distribution ring resulting in the arrest of 12 in Poughkeepsie Wednesday and Thursday.
Shabari Fisher 33, Shateek Parker 28, Garen Fisher, 29, Shannon Walker, 23, Tyrell Rudolph, 24, Steven Williams, 23, Rasheed Harrell, 25, Carlos Reyes, 20, Christian Parker, 21, Vaughn McKinney, 35, and Gary Sessoms, 51 were all charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. If convicted the suspects face up to life in prison.
Tony Jarrett, 28, was charged with distribution of controlled substances. If convicted he faces up to 80 years in prison.
Shabari Fisher and Shateek Parker were identified as the leaders of the ring. The heroin was distributed under the street names of “True Religion,” Gucci,” “Rated R,” “Red Bull,” Coors Light,” “Scarface,” and “Bomb.”
The ring was allegedly operating from January of 2011 in a cell phone store at Main and Catharine streets in the city of Poughkeepsie.
Members of the Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, which includes, the US Attorney’s Office, the FBI and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the sweep.
